Alexander House is a luxury exclusive-use country house and event venue near Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland. Designed by renowned architect Robert Adam and built in 2009 on the site of a historic farmstead, it combines classic grandeur with contemporary comfort. The property is available for large group stays, hen parties, weddings, corporate retreats, and family celebrations, and is owned and run by the Lewis family.

Alexander House is set high in the Perthshire Hills, just 2.5 miles from the world-famous Gleneagles and less than one hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Stirling and Perth are approximately 20 minutes away. The nearest train station is Gleneagles, just 7 minutes from the house.

The main house offers nine beautifully appointed bedrooms, while an additional two-bedroom annexe allows for even greater flexibility, accommodating up to 28 guests and four dogs. Smaller groups can book the East Wing for up to 14 guests at a reduced rate. For catered hen party packages, a minimum of 14 guests and a maximum of 28 apply, subject to availability.

Yes. Up to four dogs are welcome at Alexander House, by prior arrangement. Please note that pets are not permitted in the glamping accommodation due to livestock in the surrounding area.

Absolutely. Alexander House is one of Scotland’s most popular dedicated hen party venues. A fully catered hen party package is available, where the team takes care of all catering and activities, from arrival drinks and a welcome buffet supper to pre-dinner canapés and homemade cakes. On-site activities can include pampering sessions, afternoon tea, chocolate-making, dance classes, and archery, while off-site options include white-water rafting, horse-riding, and golf at Gleneagles.

Yes. Alexander House offers weddings from 2 to 50 guests, with accommodation for 2 to 30, and a choice of ceremony spaces including an indoor Orangery for up to 60 guests. Elopements and intimate micro-weddings are also available, just check out our weddings website Thistle Weddings Scotland.

Yes — the house is available on both a self-catering and catered basis. There is a curated selection of local private chefs available who can provide everything from simple meals to a 10-course tasting menu, all in your own kitchen. The Alexander House team also cook a full Scottish Brunch, and Victoria and Morag offer luxury afternoon teas, high teas, and grazing tables.

Yes. Guests can choose from two luxury permanently pitched yurts, each sleeping from two people, or converted horseboxes — Juniper and Thistle — sleeping two adults and two children. All glamping units are located in the grounds of Alexander House. Each has its own wood-fired hot tub. Glamping can be booked independently or as an addition to a group stay or wedding.

Yes. The property is powered by solar panels and ground source heat pumps, and benefits from its own artesian water supply. Sustainably sourced fixtures, fittings, and products are used throughout.

The outdoor facilities include a sheltered 6-seater hot tub and a covered heated swimming pool set in a pretty courtyard, with spectacular panoramic views across Perthshire towards Gleneagles, the Sidlaw Hills, and beyond. Inside, the house features nine bedrooms, a large entertaining kitchen, a grand dining hall with a circular table seating 15, a drawing room, and a games room.

Yes. All your beds will be made up prior to your arrival. and we provide towels and make-up facecloths, and leisure towels for the hot tub (blue stripes).

Absolutely. There are 2 x Char.gy 6.9kw chargers on the wall of The Orangery, opposite the main house. You are welcome to plug in here. You will need the Char.gy app which you can download for both Apple and Android.

Please remember that Alexander House is self-catering, but we do provide a small welcome pack with tea, coffee, 1 large ‘Who Gives a Crap’ toilet roll, Beekind shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand wash in the bathrooms, and ask that you try and also use eco-friendly products when you stay with us too.

We provide cleaning products for your use throughout your stay.

The things that we suggest you DO bring:

• Yourselves and whatever you may need to eat, including cooking condiments
• A good pair of wellies or walking boots – it is such beautiful countryside around AH
• Loo rolls
• An extra bag of ice for your drinks, our fridges do not have ice makers
• Spare Tupperware (just bring some of those takeaway dishes you never know what to do with!) for picnics and to take home your culinary delights.
• Baking parchment, cling film and tin foil
• Your swimsuit for the Hot Tub (please ☺)
• Lastly, your sense of adventure!
